Hospitalist Program
Ensuring Quality Care Throughout Your Hospital Stay
If you or a loved one is hospitalized at KDMC, you can rest assured that a physician is there 24 hours a day. Board-certified hospitalists are on staff around the clock. Hospitalists are in-house physicians and nurse practitioners who manage and oversee care for hospitalized patients. They coordinate with patients’ primary care physicians and other providers. KDMC was among the first hospitals in Mississippi to have hospitalists. Our program began in 2002.
Hospitalists also help ensure continuity of care upon discharge. Our discharge plans include an appointment with your primary care provider, who will receive a copy of the plan. Some patients need extra recovery time. For those who do require additional recovery time, we coordinate with post-acute care facilities for a safe transition.
